Understanding The Various Air Filters

Human life needs pure clean air, a kind of air that is hardly possible to breathe to day if not with the helped of air cleaners. We have few different methods to clean the air such as Filtration, Electro-static Precipitation and Ion Generation. Air Filtration can clean effectively the air by simply removing the sub-micron particulate, gases and odors. Air filter is essential to have for those person having allergies or asthma. Mechanical Filters

Mechanical filters work by forcing air through a special screen that is can trap pollen, dust particulate, smoke and air-borne irritants and pet dander. The HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is one example of this filter.

Gas Phase Filters

If you house has a lot of odors and other types of pollutants such as gases from cooking, paints, perfume etc., then to remove this you might want to have this type of filter.  Remember that these filters are not designed to remove allergens found in the home.

Electronic Filters

These filters remove allergens in a different way. It can trap allergens through electrostatic precipitates with a fan.  In this method attracting contaminants is possible through the use of electric charges by electronic filters.

Hybrid Filters

Air filters of this type are likely to combine electrostatic and mechanical Biomass Boilers. Allergens are the target of this combination rather than gas based contaminants.

There is another type called the Ozone air filter. This is not used since is is bad for the environment.

There are actually a lot of things to consider before finally deciding what filter to buy. First you have to consider which type of allergens will be removed, then also look at the filter's efficiency with respect to HEPA standards. Take note of the clean air delivery rate (CADR) of the filter, the ease of changing the filter, and lastly consider also the noise that it will make. Moreover, you must also to make sure to change the air filters regularly for a better quality of air.
